This incredible photo by Matt Hutton is just one of the current entries in the Dubbo-based (and open to the world's photographers) 2014 Macquarie Photographic Prize. This is how Matt recounted the story behind the photo:
"My name is Matt Hutton and I am a self taught photographer. I have been doing photography seriously for only 2-3 years now. I currently live in Wickham, W.A and work as a Rio Tinto train driver and do photography on the side as a hobby.
"This photo was taken recently on a trip to Kalbarri, W.A. I had only just purchased a new 70-200mm lens with a x2 extender and went to a local surfing spot to try out the lens. My subject who I later found out was Trent who is a local teacher. I was taking multiple photos of him surfing a wave where out of no where a Dolphin decided to jump out right beside him! The second I looked at my camera, I knew I had something special. Talk about right place right time..."
