Seven young opera singers are on their way to Dubbo. But instead of just giving a concert, they plan on inspiring other budding performers to follow their dreams.
Soprano Jessica Westcott said the group is excited to be doing their Rising Stars regional tour of NSW and the ACT, where they encourage others to join them on stage.
“This is no ordinary concert,” she explained.
“As plenty of our tour group have grown up around the Central West area, we are aware of how important it is for young local talent to be given the opportunity to perform and work with professionals. Therefore, we are inviting several young acts (between 12 and 18) to become part of our show!”
“Each local talent will get to perform one piece, and then join in with a duet or group ensemble with our fabulous singers.”
The Rising Stars Tour comprises exceptional young opera singers from Sydney, including some contracted with Opera Australia and other professional groups.
“This concert is about encouraging Dubbo’s future Rising Stars and we expect to see a good crowd there.
“Our fearless accompanist Julia is one of the founding members of the world-famous Ten Tenors, and she looks forward to coaching the kids who perform with us in Dubbo.
“The programme is full of classic pieces and audience participation, and should be a great afternoon out!”
