I got involved in business... When I was 18 years-old
Our business is known for... Accommodation, Restaurant, Conferencing, functions, weddings and parties.
Our best selling product is... Our Fresh seafood platter and Espresso Martini.
My role in the business is... To be the face of Quality Inn Dubbo and to re-introduce our property to Dubbo and build relationships with other businesses in order to grow Dubbo. I do anything from reception, laundry, housekeeping, waitress, and even the dishes.
I manage... a team of 22 staff members
I spend my down time...At the beach with my partner and our son.
I’m inspired by...The late Matthew Carr. He taught me patience and to always look on the bright side of life. No matter what is happening in your life always stay focused on the outcome you have set for yourself. Everything will come when the time is right.
In my opinion, the biggest issue facing small business is … Skills. We need to work and encourage our younger generation and teach them that it is so important to develop a skill and to work hard for it. After all they are our future.
My secret to success is... It’s not about success, it’s about providing a service, and being proud of the end product. Encouraging people to work together this way we gain momentum and we all grow together.
I’m most proud of... What our staff and we have accomplished in the last two years. It has been an enormous effort by all of our team and without them, we could not have rebranded our business. To achieve a 4-star rating from where we started, it was a very proud moment. Every day we gain more knowledge and respect for the business.
If I could, I’d tell my 20-year-old self that...There is no need to stay in the closet. “Get out” be yourself, embrace life! You are who you are.
The best piece of career advice I can offer is... Keep the momentum going. Never ever give up. Always surround yourself with people who are going the same direction and keep that hunger for determination and succeeding, but stay true to yourself.
And if I wasn’t in my current role, I’d... be working as a Make-up artist in fashion and TV.
