ABC and Fox Sports commentator Matt Elliott was in the city over the weekend.
The former St George-Illawarra Dragon’s hooker who has built his NRL coaching CV at Canberra, Penrith and the Auckland Warriors is now turning his mentoring skills to staff development, communication and team building.
Matt flew into Dubbo ostensibly to work with childcare workers at the new Redgum Child Care Centre on Fitzroy St., but was generous enough to address the St. John’s JRL coaches and supporters on Saturday night.
Matt loved the Apex Club’s Caltex Park precinct and predicted more big matches will be allocated in the not-too-distant future.
He also showed he has a sense of humour. When asked if he could apply some of his motivational skills to Laurie Daley and the NSW Blues, Matt responded with a smile,
“I’d love to but my Maroons colleagues would disown me!”
