A local grandfather, who wishes to remain anonymous, has won more than $1 million in Saturday Lotto – and pledged to help his children with their mortgages, help his grandchildren with their education, and make a donation to the Australian Heart Foundation.
The division one winning ticket was purchased from Talbragar Street Newsagency in Dubbo.
Lotto officials weren’t able to find the man at first, however after almost a week since the draw, he was identified this morning.
The man was one of three division one winners from Saturday Lotto draw 3719, held on Saturday, March 11, landing a prize of $1,376,411.74. His winning ticket was a 24-game QuickPick.
“The shocked retiree only discovered he was Dubbo’s missing winner this morning, when he checked his ticket at Talbragar Street Newsagency,” a Lotto spokesperson said today.
“Thank you very much!” he exclaimed.
He’d been carrying the ticket in his wallet all week.
“It’s the greatest shock of my life!” he added. “I’ve only ever won $80 in the past.”
His pledge to make a donation to the Australian Heart Foundation has come about because it’s a charity he has long supported.
Talbragar Street Newsagency owner Peter Snare said he was thrilled the winner had been found.
