What the frack? Pardon our French but this points to one of the more controversial techniques for extracting coal seam gas: hydraulic fracturing. Others include vertical, horizontal or directional drilling.

The former Dubbo City Council adopted a Position Paper for Coal Seam Gas in 2015 and today’s Dubbo Regional Council is now asking for submissions from the community on whether Coal Seam Gas (CSG) exploration and development should be supported in the Dubbo Regional Local Government Area.

“Ultimately, any application for CSG exploration or production is a State Government decision but it is important to establish the community’s view on the topic and for Council to adopt a position to ensure this is considered in any future proposals,” Mayor Ben Shields said.

For residents without access to a computer or the internet, Council has one console available in their Dubbo foyer. The Macquarie Regional Library also has internet connected computers available free for the public to use.

Submissions can be made online or in writing to Council at PO Box 81, Dubbo NSW 2830. Submissions are welcome up until 5pm on Friday, June 15, 2018.
