This extraordinarily beautiful image was captured by former Dubbo photographer and inaugural winner of the Macquarie Photography Prize, Luke Peterson, in a series of six photographs put together in a technique called “stitching”.
“It was taken at Spring Ridge, on the Liverpool Plains back in January. I was driving to Quirindi because I wanted to photograph some sunflowers on a property there, when I saw this paddock. I talked to the farmer and he was happy to let me stand on my camera case in the middle of his crop to get these shots.”
Luke’s stunning image was captured at sunset which is a beautiful time of day out on the Liverpool Plains, but he says it’s “all about the timing”.
“I had to get the sun just at that very small window before it went down – then I had to “stitch” the six separate photos together.”
Luke’s image is one of the entries in the 2014 Macquarie Photography Prize.
