The state government has announced $135.85 million in new funding aimed at improving road safety in regional areas.

The announcement was welcomed by Stephen Lawrence, the NSW Government Duty MLC for the electorates of Dubbo, Orange, Bathurst, and Cootamundra, which will all see roadworks covered by the funding.

“This investment will see three projects in Cootamundra, nine projects in Orange, nine projects in Bathurst, and 17 projects in the Dubbo electorate delivered as part of this program,” Mr Lawrence said.

“These lifesaving road safety improvements include infrastructure upgrades at high-risk locations, so the improvements will happen in locations around our communities where they are needed most.”

The Dubbo electorate is set to benefit from significant projects, including shoulder widening, the installation of wide centrelines, and safety barrier improvements on the Mitchell Highway at various locations.

Notable investments include $24.39 million for upgrades at Geurie and $5.99 million at Minore.

The projects named in the Dubbo electorate are:

  • Shoulder widening, installation of wide centreline and clearzone improvements on Mitchell Highway at Minore,
  • Project development of safety improvements on Castlereagh Highway at Apple Tree Flat
  • Project development of safety improvements on Castlereagh Highway at Menah
  • Shoulder widening and installation of wide centreline on Mitchel Highway at East Narromine, Mitchell Highway
  • Project development of safety improvements on Mitchell Highway at Geurie
  • Project development of safety improvements on Mitchell Highway at Wongarbon
  • Project development of safety improvements on Mitchell Highway between Eulomogo Creek Bridge and Railway Lane at Eulomogo, Mitchell Highway
  • Project development of safety improvements on Mitchell Highway between Bencubbin Drive and Eulomogo Creek Bridge at Eulomogo
  • Shoulder widening, installation of wide centreline, safety barrier and clearzone improvements on Mitchell Highway at Geurie
  • Shoulder widening, installation of wide centreline, safety barrier and intersection improvements on Mitchell Highway at Neurea
  • Shoulder widening, installation of wide centreline and safety barrier on Mitchell Highway at Cundumbul
  • Shoulder widening, installation of wide centreline and safety barrier on Mitchell Highway at Apsley
  • Project development of safety improvements at intersection of Narromine Road and North Burrabadine Road at Dubbo, Mitchell Highway
