Defying tough times and high fuel prices, Dubbo’s fourth annual MotorFest car and bike show is on the fast-track to being the biggest and best ever!

Starring again at Dubbo Showground on Saturday, August 29, the event has grown and developed on every occasion and 2026 will be no exception, current president, Steve Fieldus told Dubbo Photo News.

“There’ll be plenty of different things this year; we’ve got a very unique mix of elite cars and motorcycles on exhibition,” Steve enthused.

“Given the popularity and the way it has grown, it will definitely be bigger than previous years,” he added.

Not just a local success, Dubbo MotorFest now also brings tourists, exhibitors, and dedicated car and bike lovers to the Orana from the whole east coast of Australia and beyond, Steve revealed.

“We’ve got people coming from Melbourne to Bundaberg, and everywhere in between.

“For exhibitor numbers, when you add in the ‘Show and Shine’ section, we’re looking at 600-plus bikes and cars on display.”

To think that this giant extravaganza all came about after a chat between motoring enthusiasts less than half a decade ago, shows the power of positivity and a strong desire to develop something for enthusiasts and the wider community.

“I’ve been part of the committee and team that started it four years ago. It spawned from an idea by members of the motorcycle and driver’s clubs to put on a show for old cars and bikes,” Steve explained.

“A couple of the members thought it would be great to hold a car and bike show, we were expecting 3000 people, and we got 5000 at that first event,” he revealed.

Steve emphasised that the show could not be what it is without the support of a number of “fantastic” sponsors. Its success is also down to a hardworking and dedicated committee of volunteers, he added.

“We raise the money to run the event through our fantastic sponsors, who are great.

“We also obviously rely on a number of people who love the job and the event.”

With all profits going to local charities, another of their main fundraisers offers a classic American motoring icon as first prize.

“We’re raffling a Harley Davidson motorcycle this year with all money raised helping to fund the show.

“The committee is also out to keep the cost of entry fees as cheap as possible with tickets again only $10 for what is a great day,” Steve enthused.

The result, he believes, is now one of the great tourist and visitor attractions in the Orana each August.

“If the weather is kind – and the long-range forecast says it could be about 22–23 degrees and sunny on the day – we could anticipate over 10,000 people through the gate,” Steve said.

“This is now probably one of the biggest events Dubbo has got, and that’s great for the city,” he concluded.
