Dundas Park is the place to be this Saturday, November 29, as the good folk from the Central West Riders Social Motorcycle Club roll into Narromine as part of their Toy Run initiative which alternates annually between that town and Wellington.
The Toy Run obtains donations of unwapped gifts for children and young people over a period of weeks in the lead up to the event, which the Central West Riders will then bring to Narromine this Saturday in its convoy of motorcycles. Once here, after they have a few cool drinks at The Courthouse Hotel, the riders will move down to Dundas Park and hand over their treasure trove to the Narromine Community Skills team who will then arrange to distribute the gifts closer to Christmas to families doing it tough.
While no toys will be handed out to locals on Saturday, families can enjoy a barbecue at the park for a gold coin donation and the kids can meet Santa’s Helper who, we're told, will have a lolly bag for every child. All funds raised go to Narromine Community Skills to support the work it does with families in need in the community.
"Enjoy a sausage while checking out the amazing bikes as they roll in, and meet the generous riders who are donating brand new toys to support families across Narromine local government area," a Narromine Community Skills spokesperson said.
"A huge thank you also to Narromine Car Club for their generous gift donations, caring for our community."
Narromine Community Skills will accept new unwrapped toys and gifts on the day at Dundas Park from members of the public, but it is not compulsory to bring anything along to the event. the spokesperson said.
"It’s a beautiful way to teach children the reason for the season is GIVING," they added.
"A gift is not necessary; all are welcome to come along for a look, a chat, a sausage and some Christmas spirit, making the day full of community, kindness and joy!"
