Last year, Dubbo Photo News shared the story of the tragic passing of 35-year-old Jessica Hangan.
Jessica was a mother of four, a devoted daughter and partner, and a much-loved aunty and friend to many who passed away suddenly from a brain aneurysm, leaving her devastated family to grieve an enormous loss.
What the community may not have known was that Jessica and her two young daughters shared a deep love of dancing and performing, spending countless hours training and travelling for performances.
Following the loss of their mother, the girls continued to dance and perform with Urban Edge Dance Studios and Molly’s Tumbling Co in Dubbo
At the end-of-year performance last year,Jessica’s family and friends were overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support from the dancing and tumbling communities. Annual shields and awards were created to pay tribute to both Jessica and her sister Caroline, who also passed away earlier last year.

Jessica and Caroline’s mother, Cheryl Webber, shared her heartfelt appreciation for the support shown to her family by Urban Edge and Molly’s Tumbling.
“The group has gone above and beyond, especially for my granddaughters. We just wanted to thank them so much,” Cheryl told Dubbo Photo News.
“At the end-of-year concert, they created a truly special dance in honour of Jessica. My granddaughter opened the performance, and by the end there wasn’t a dry eye there,” she added.
“The dancers were dressed in Jess’ favourite colour – yellow. It meant a lot to us.
“We are still just doing one day at a time but knowing how much love there is in our community makes it a little easier,” Cheryl concluded.
