Dubbo athlete and power-lifter Millie Jackson has returned home a world-record holder after an outstanding performance at the GPC World Championships in Balneário Camboriú, Brazil.
The event, held in the bustling beachside city on on the country’s idyllic coastline, saw athletes from across the globe compete for international honours.
Millie proudly represented both Australia and Dubbo, competing in the three-lift category, individual single lifts, and the popular bicep curl event.
Millie delivered a strong and consistent showing throughout the championships, posting 140kg in the squat; 70kg in the bench press; and 140kg in the deadlift.
Her performance in the individual events was equally impressive, recording a 27.5kg bicep curl; a lift that earned her a world record. She also secured the world record in the single-lift squat, cementing her place among the top lifters in her division.
“It was an honour to represent Dubbo and Australia,” Millie said after her herculean efforts.
“Knowing Dubbo was behind me made the whole experience even more special,” she added
Millie said competing on the world stage was both surreal and deeply rewarding, adding that being able to represent her hometown made the achievement even more meaningful.
“It was an incredible atmosphere,” Millie recalled.
“To come away with two world records, is something I’m incredibly proud of,” she concluded.
