For the hard-working committee of volunteers who seamlessly put together Dubbo’s MotorFest car and bike extravaganza every year, the event truly is a labour of love.

Work on the motoring spectacular held each August starts almost as soon as the last show has ended, President Steve Fieldus recently told Dubbo Photo News..

Starring again at Dubbo Showground on Saturday, August 29, the show has grown and developed each year with planning for the next exhibition starting almost as soon as the bunting, corflutes, and flags have come down.

“From start to finish, we work on the event for about 10 months to make it happen,” Steve revealed.

“At the finish of the show, we do the clean up work and reconciliations and then we analyse what trends are developing, what worked, or what we can change,” he added.

The committee members do, however allow themselves a bit of a break over the festive season before again getting back in the saddle.

“We have a couple of months off over Christmas, and then we’re into it.

“It’s a real labour of love, and everyone puts so much in to ensure that it’s a real success,” Steve explained.

Managing Director of Transforce Bulk Haulage, Steve has an appreciation of fine motoring mechanics himself, revealing that he also will be exhibiting some of his own classic cars and bikes. Asked what he would save in the event of an unfortunate warehouse blaze, he made the correct call!

“I’ve got a couple of cars and four motorcycles that I’ll have on show.

“In the case of a fire, the first thing I would rescue, would be my wife, then my 2016 Harley-Davidson!” he opined.

It is also coincidentally just such a classic piece of American iron that is one of the charity event’s main fundraisers, with an iconic Harley Davidson being raffled with all money raised helping to fund the show.

The brand new 2026 model in Vivid Black (of course!) features a fresh design with LED headlights, a larger fuel tank, and polished accents. It is also driven by a more powerful Milwaukee-eight 117 engine with heavy breather intake and includes technology upgrades such as traction control and ABS braking, and improved suspension and ride modes, enhancing its performance.

The winner of the bike will be drawn at 2.30pm during MotorFest as one of the key moments for this year’s show.

The festival is not only for die-hard motoring fans; families can also enjoy delicious treats from food vendors while soaking up the atmosphere and enjoying live music performances. There will also be jaw-dropping FMX Motocross exhibitions featuring astonishing stunts and adrenaline-fueled action.
