A man has been charged after a pedestrian was struck during a crash in Dubbo on Saturday, September 6.

According to a statement from police, officers from Orana Mid Western Police District were called to Bourke Street at about 8am following reports a vehicle had collided with another car, before crashing through a fence and hitting a pedestrian who was standing on the footpath.

Emergency services found an 87-year-old man lying on the roadway. He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for serious hand and internal injuries, while an 85-year-old woman was also treated at the scene for a head injury.

Both were taken to Dubbo Base Hospital in a stable condition.

Police arrested the driver, a 37-year-old man, who was taken to hospital for mandatory testing. Following inquiries, he was charged later that evening with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm – drive manner dangerous, and negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm.

He was refused bail and is due to appear before Parramatta Local Court today, Sunday, September 7.
