What can you tell us about yourself? My name is Jisha. I have been living in Dubbo for the past 15 years. I moved to Australia from India with my family in 2009. Dubbo has become my home, and I enjoy being part of this welcoming community.

What is your job? I am working as a TAFE teacher.

Are you involved with any local groups? Yes, I am involved with ORUMA, the Orana Regional United Malayalee Association. As a member of the cultural committee, I volunteer to support community integration and strengthen cultural connections within the region. I am also actively engaged in organising cultural and sporting programs for the Malayalee community, helping bring people together and celebrate cultural heritage.

What do you like to do in your spare time? I enjoy gardening and cooking in my spare time. These activities help me relax and spend quality time with my family.

What do you love about our region? Dubbo is a beautiful region with wonderful people. It is a great place to settle with family and friends. The community is supportive and welcoming, and there are always opportunities for personal and professional growth. I appreciate the strong sense of community and the lifestyle that Dubbo offers.

What do you think are the strengths of our region? The strengths of our region are its supportive and respectful community, as well as its cultural diversity. People from different backgrounds live together in harmony, creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for everyone. This strong sense of community makes Dubbo a wonderful place to live, work, and raise a family.

If you could give one local business a shout out, who would it be and why? I would like to give a shout out to Haldi. It is a wonderful local business that serves delicious authentic food and provides excellent customer service. Haldi has become a popular place for families and friends to enjoy quality meals, and it makes a valuable contribution to our local community.
