Dubbo Regional Airport is hosting Royal Australian Air Force instructor and trainee pilots for a two-week training program as part of Exercise Wiradjuri Sunrise.

The exercise, which began on Tuesday, April 22, and will run until Saturday, May 3, features Pilatus PC-21 aircraft from No.1 Flying Training School (1FTS) based at RAAF Base East Sale in Victoria.

Flying activities will occur throughout the two-week period, with 1FTS also participating in Dubbo’s Anzac Day commemorations, including a flypast in support of the RSL Memorial Club service on Brisbane Street.

The PC-21 is recognised as the world’s most advanced pilot training aircraft, designed to accelerate and enhance the quality of pilot development.

Equipped with cutting-edge simulation and digital learning systems, it prepares trainees for next-generation platforms such as the F-35A Joint Strike Fighter and Armed Reconnaissance Helicopter.

Local residents may notice increased air activity during the exercise period.
