As the final stage of Dubbo’s prestigious Oak Tree Retirement Village takes shape, those keen to see what boutique-sized retirement community living is like should take the special Twilight Tour available next week and find out.
The Twilight Tour evening will take place on Thursday, December 4, between 5.30pm and 7.30pm, and provides a great opportunity to walk through the stylish two and three-bedroom step-free villas and the range of quality communal facilities on offer.
Nestled in the Yarrawonga Estate on the eastern fringe of Dubbo, Oak Tree Retirement Village is purpose-designed for seniors to maintain independent living and social contact in a secure, gated community.
Residents of the village enjoy thoughtfully designed single-level villas with reverse-cycle air conditioning, spacious and accessible bathrooms, lock-up garages and private fenced courtyards. They also have access to facilities including a bowling green, village bus (for scheduled trips to town), swimming pool, and a village centre including a gym and library. Oak Tree is also a welcome space for visitors and pets.
The 75-unit retirement village has a community master plan, which will be completed with the finalisation of the remaining villas in the near future.
“Our villas are purpose-built with ageing-in-place in mind,” said Village Manager Jo Wodson.
“We have no steps in any of our villas. They’re compact, easy to maintain, and the bathrooms are amazing. We have extra-wide showers, handrails and all of that in place so that if residents need help with personal care, the villas are already set up for that,” she added.
“We build with all of that in mind.”
Residents don't have to worry about maintenance in their villas or the upkeep of the grounds and facilities, as this is all taken care of for them by management.
Oak Tree Retirement Village enables residents to maintain social connections, vitally important as people age and often become isolated from their communities, Jo said.
“Social engagement is certainly here at Oak Tree and is one of the real benefits of retirement living,” she added.
If you’re unable to take advantage of the Twilight Tour on Thursday, December 4, Oak Tree Retirement Village is open for inspection Monday to Friday from 10am to 2pm. You can book a tour online at www.oaktreegroup.com.au/location/dubbo/ or by contacting Jo Wodson on 0418 896 822.
