Warren Airport has officially opened its newly upgraded terminal. The $2.37 million upgrade introduces a state-of-the-art terminal building with modern amenities, upgraded runways, taxiways, and essential infrastructure enhancements.

The new terminal includes air-conditioned spaces, a meeting room, a kitchenette, showers, and accessible facilities.

The upgrades replace the outdated 1960 terminal.

In addition to the terminal, the project features a backup generator for runway lighting, improved drainage, a new fuel tank, and an automatic weather station, significantly enhancing the airport’s operational capabilities.

These improvements support critical services, including the Royal Flying Doctor Service, aero-medical operations, aerial firefighting, and private aviation.

During the opening ceremony, Member for Barwon Roy Butler and Warren Shire mayor Milton Quigley emphasised the economic and social impact of the upgrades.

“The improvements made here will have a lasting impact on the community, not just in terms of aviation but in the overall economic growth of the region,” Cr Quigley said.

Warren Shire Council is also finalising lease negotiations with Bankstown Flying School which is expected to establish a flying school at the airport, further boosting local aviation training and attracting new business.
