A woman has been charged with the murder of two young boys following their deaths in Coonabarabran earlier this week.

Just after 2 pm on Monday, May 5, police responded to welfare concerns at a home on Emu Lane. Officers from Orana Mid-Western Police District discovered the bodies of two boys, aged six and seven, inside the property, along with a 66-year-old woman who was injured.

The woman was taken to hospital for medical assessment, remaining under police guard. Authorities confirmed the woman and the children were known to each other, according to a police statement early Saturday morning.

An investigation, Strike Force Darnum, was established with assistance from the State Crime Command's Homicide Squad. Upon her hospital discharge on Friday, May 9, the woman was transferred to Orange Police Station where she was charged with two counts of murder.

Refused bail, she will face Parramatta Bail Court on Saturday, May 10.
