With spring on the way, the days getting noticeably longer, and the smell of newly-mown grass in the air, that means it’s also finals time in the central west!

In exciting Australian Football news, Dubbo Demons Club are to host their first Central West Grand Final in well over a decade after the premier women’s team followed the two men’s teams into the decider on the weekend.

This is a feat that Demons President and key centre-field player, Kaitlyn ‘Speedy” Walden, sees as the culmination of years of hard work.

“We have really focussed on melding our juniors and seniors and now we are reaping the rewards,” Speedy said.

"There are a record number of players across all grades and to have all our seniors running out on our spiritual home on Saturday is a bonus,” she added.

In other results, the Mixed Under 14s put up a brave showing in Sunday’s grand final, going down by only four points after a huge third quarter fightback.

“We are so impressed with these youngsters,” Speedy said proudly.

“Their willingness to learn, attendance at training, and parental support has put the club in a good space going forward,” she concluded.
