On Saturday, August 8, 15 bowlers took to the greens in the Carpet One mixed Triples and Pairs events. It was from this event that the winning combination of Gaye Cottee and Greg Hough emerged victorious after defeating Annette McMillan and Mark Morton to take home the money.
Peter Lesueur, Eric Satchell and Anthony Coe also defeated the combination of Peter Lesueur, Alex Rae and Vitt Mascaro while Frank Armstrong, Doug Back and Michelle Harkin played a 13-all draw with Dennis Crimmins, Cheryl Storch and Col Cottee.
Greg Hough had the only rester for the morning, and the jackpot was not won and lives until next week.
The Blues Meats Tuesday Ladies’ match saw 10 ladies on the greens to contest one Triples game and one Pairs game.
The winners came from the Pairs game of Chris Sinclair and Trish Gosper, who ran out the winners over Kerri Dickson and Judy O'Connor (this makes two in a row for the Sinclair-Gosper pairing). Ruby Stockings, Wanda King and Geraldine Jasprizza also defeated Sue O'dea, Cheryl Storch and Karen Greenhalgh.
Resters went to Ruby Stockings and Kerri Dickson, and lucky draw winners were Sue O'dea and Wanda King.
On Wednesday, August 12, the rain cleared and 22 men played under overcast skies and on a very damp green in the Kintyre Living Triples and Pairs events.
Winners were Terry Duncan, Todd O'dea and Doug Back, who defeated Ian Richards, Frank Armstrong and Brian Coffey, while in second Place was the team of Dennis Crimmins, Doug Aldis and Matt Quill, who defeated Howard Courts, Eric Satchell and Norm Johnston.
In other results, Nick Birbiles and Peter Sinclair defeated Dennis Jasprizza and Mike Twohill, while John McKenzie, Mel Giddings and Ian Hobson defeated Ron McCauley, Paul “The Phantom” Goodstat and Steve Kelly. Steve also had the only rester for the morning.
Closest game went to John McKenzie, Mel Giddings and Ian Hobson, while the Jackpot finally went off, congratulations to the winners.
