The 2025 Mudgee Classic has wrapped up with record participation, drawing thousands of cyclists from across Australia and overseas for a weekend of scenic rides, festive atmosphere and perfect autumn weather.
Held over two days, the popular event featured the 55km Dirty Mudgee gravel ride on Saturday, followed by four Gran Fondo road courses on Sunday, ranging from 35km to 170km. Riders praised the event’s organisation, breathtaking countryside, and the warm hospitality of the Mudgee region.
Anthony Nguyen, one of 29 riders from cycling club Pastries CC, described the Dirty Mudgee ride as a standout experience.
“It was an absolutely beautiful course, champagne gravel can’t be understated.
"The volunteers were amazing. Gels, food, everything was covered. I can’t wait to be back!” he said.
The Glen Willow Sports Complex hosted the event village, featuring live music, local food and beverages, and a showcase of sponsors.
Beyond the cycling, participants made a meaningful impact by raising nearly $40,000 for charities. First-time Mudgee Classic riders Dan Brown and Declan Stanley contributed more than $12,000 for MND Research Australia.
“We’re fundraising for MND Research Australia. It’s a charity very close to our hearts as our mother-in-law, Rozanna, is fighting the disease," Brown said.
"This is our way of honouring her strength and helping others who are living with MND."
Organisers thanked local authorities, tourism bodies, police, and volunteers for their support. The 2026 Mudgee Classic is set for Saturday and Sunday, May 2 and 3.
"Cycling enthusiasts are encouraged to save the date and book their accommodation early to avoid disappointment," organisers said.
