The Dubbo Kangaroos have hit the ground running in the 2025 Central West Rugby Un-ion Blowes Cup Men’s 1st Grade competition, topping the ladder after three rounds and building momentum ahead of their first home game this Saturday, May 10.
Club Chaplain and Social Registrar Barti praised the hard work and commitment shown by all grades so far.
“It is great to see the way all the players are striving to raise the great Roo banner,” he said. “All the hard work this season is paying off.”
The 1st Grade Roos remain undefeated so far this season with wins over Bathurst Bull-dogs on April 12, Orange City Lions on April 26, and last Saturday, May 3, the Roos over-came a determined Orange Emus side, edging out a 19-14 victory.
These results see Dubbo sitting on top of the ladder with three wins from three matches and a total of 14 competition points. They lead Orange Emus (11 points), Cowra Eagles (10), and Orange City Lions (9).
In other 1st Grade Round 3 results on Saturday, Forbes Platypi 17 were defeated by Or-ange City Lions 25, and Cowra Eagles 44 defeated Bathurst Bulldogs 17.
The Roos will host the Cowra Eagles this Saturday, May 10, at Dubbo Rugby Club.
Being the day before Mother's Day, Saturday will also feature the club’s popular Roo Community Family Day, offering plenty of fun for families and supporters. Activities include face painting, balloons featuring the Roos logo, lolly bags, novelty games, and the NSW Rugby inflatable passing game.
Barti reminded players and supporters alike, “Remember you lot, Sunday, May 11, is Mother's Day! How about some perfume and breakfast in bed?”
While the club’s second grade team has yet to find consistent winning form, Barti re-mains optimistic.
“When you see them at training and the way they are working on their combinations, I am certain it won’t be long until we see them again in the winner’s circle.”
Supporters who haven’t already done so are encouraged to sign up for the club’s Old Boy or Social membership program.
