On Sunday, November 23, 18 of the Dubbo Ducks flew in from throughout the region to compete in a four-event card the Dubbo RSL indoor pool.

As it was the second last swim in Spring, the mighty Ducks are now swimming for hams! The winner of each final will now be presented with a voucher for a ham or equivalent from our wonderful sponsors at DMC Meats and Seafood Centre. The competition has really now risen to an altogether new level.

First up, the leveller of all levellers, the 25m Freestyle. Warren Williams came in first, Ron Everett second, Bill Greenwood third, Mark Prentice fourth and Tom Gray rounded out the top five.

Big thanks to Judy Walsh, Nicole Johnstone and Glenn Smith for assisting with timekeeping and marshalling duties, and lucky numbers were won by Peter Allen and John Wherritt.

Second event on the card was the team event, a 2x50m Brace Relay. Mark Prentice with Marg Ross took out first, Peter Hargreaves with David Sparkes were close behind in second, Bill Greenwood with Katharine O’Rourke were third, Warren Williams with John Wherritt were fourth and Tom Gray with Henry Wilcockson in fifth.

An individual medley of sorts next: 25m Freestyle and 25m Breaststroke. Mal Cavanagh was consistent with first, Neil Harris second, Peter Hargreaves third, Tom Gray fourth and David Sparkes glided into fifth.

In the ‘at Go’ event, the 25m Butterfly, the top five were Neil Harris (0.16), Alan Quin (0.17), Peter Allen (0.84), David Sparkes (1.10) and Katharine O’Rourke (1.24).

Next weekend will be the last swim for Spring, so why not put your togs and come and join us? Any enquiries, look for our contact details in the Dubbo Photo News Community Diary under "Sunday".

Final numbers are needed for Western Districts at Cobar in February, accommodation, bookings. Call Henry!

Looking forward to seeing everyone, and remember, all are welcome at our Sunday swim meets.

Enjoy our photos from the Clive Roots Memorial on November 13.

That’s this week’s tidings from the Duckpond.
