Ten-year-old Stella Harding from Narromine powers her bikes over a home-made track and challenges all comers at the Morris Park Dirt Bike circuit.

As mentioned earlier in Dubbo Photo News, her efforts this year have earned Stella a trip to Indianapolis in the United States, NSW Championship titles, and a gala awards ceremony in Melbourne last weekend.

Stella really bats above her weight and age in the competitive world of 65cc, 85cc and 125cc bikes.

She told us earlier in the year how she “loves to beat the boys” and has done so consistently but, as the ages climb, her opponents will increasingly be other girls.

After Stella was recently awarded the best young rider at the NSW Dirt Bikes annual presentation dinner, she followed this up last weekend in Melbourne where she finished third in a special event staged in tandem with a major Supercross show.

Dad Luke Harding travelled to the States with Stella. He says her results in MX and Supercross have been unreal and her major sponsor, Yamaha, is offering her a clear pathway if she chooses to stick with the sport.

“Kerry and I are so proud of what ‘Stell’ has done,” Luke said.

“She works hard, she never needs to be pushed and she has the heart of a champion,” he added.

As also reported recently, Dubbo Dirt Bike Club continues to grow in numbers and excel in its efforts to bring young and old to their track on the Obley Road.

“We aim to provide scope for riders of all levels. Some like Stella will pursue their dreams, others with more modest ambitions just want to be the best they can be,” club administrator and finalist in the NSW Awards, Jackie Pratten, enthused.

“Stella raced in a special exhibition race at the Supercross Melbourne,” she added.

Even at her tender age, race bike fans are really starting to take notice, Jackie said.

“She is only 10 and there are no official races until riders turn 12, but Yamaha put on this race to showcase the young talent coming through,” Jackie revealed.

“Stella still has two more years at this level and was so strong; the winner was 12 and the other rider her age so I can see some great battles ahead,” she concluded.

Good onya, Stella!
