Alan Walter McPhail, formerly of Dubbo, was born on March 22, 1942, and passed away peacefully at Byron Bay hospital on Tuesday, August 13, 2024.

A thanksgiving service was held at Byron Bay Uniting Church and Alan was laid to rest at the Lawn Cemetery.

Alan lived in Dubbo for 45 years. He attended Dubbo High School and studied accountancy in Dubbo.

Alan managed Dubbo Flour Mill, then transferred to Papua New Guinea as general manager, returning to Dubbo as the financial manager of Dubbo RSL.

He was an active member of Macquarie Lions Club, serving as president, secretary and treasurer. He also played for Dubbo CYMS from 1958 to 1986.

Alan married Susan Rouse, and their three children, Brett, Gavin and Joanne, were born and raised in Dubbo.

Eventually work moved the family to Byron Bay.

Alan was a kind, generous, hardworking man. A wonderful husband and father and a very involved member of the Dubbo community.

Alan is survived by his loving wife Susan, his beloved children, their partners Sally, Miranda and Mark, and grandchildren Mikayla, Anthony and Finn.

Alan will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
